Mowing habits: Sharpen the blade two times a year to give the lawn a clean cut. Mow at 2 ½ to 3 inches high all season long. (It is ok to cut a little shorter for your first and last mowings every year.) We recommend to never cut of more than 1/3 of the blade off at one time. Doing this could cause the grass to look frayed and turn brown.
Watering:
Water the grass once a week for about an hour in each part of the lawn for best results. The grass needs about one inch of water per week to stay healthy and green. The easiest way to measure an inch of water is to set out empty cat food or tuna fish can by the sprinkler. When full, move onto the next part of the lawn. Early morning or early evening is the best time of day to water. Watering at high noon is strongly discouraged. Most of the water will end up wasted through evaporation and could “burn” the lawn.
Aeration:
Aeration service will help to allow more nutrients and water to penetrate deeper into the soil for help with root growth and depth. By aerating, you are recycling soil and buried sources of food for the grass plant. Aerating also breaks down a thick thatch layer which is harmful to the lawn by creating a great nesting ground for lawn damaging insects. This is recommended at least every 2 years, on some lawns, it could be annually.
Fertilizing:
Because grass is a living breathing thing, it needs to be fed as well. It is recommended to feed your lawn on a regular basis every season to help promote color and vigor. Also, the best defense against weeds is a thick, healthy lawn. Our customers see significant improvement in their yard over the first season on our program! Call or email us today for a FREE
